This Saturday 1 April, the 2017 season commences for the Sharks senior teams who are home at the Sharkpool. The top 3 grades are playing Gosford, with the u19s playing Ourimbah, the team they defeated in the 2016 Grand Final. 19s kickoff at 11:20, thirsty thirds under their new coach Dylan Hardaker hit the field at 12:30, 2nds at 1:40 and 1sts run out at 3:00pm. The weather forecast is pretty good, the field is in immaculate condition, all we need is plenty of spectators to cheers the boys on against what should be strong opposition. Juniors will be informed later in the week about possible trial games on Saturday - more on that as soon as available. Cheers Boys!

Congratulations to Brendon Robertson, this year's Club Captain of the Australian Defence Force Academy Rugby Club. Brendon played 143 Junior comp games for the Sharks, and in 2013 received our highest Junior honour, the Avoca Beach Law Award. A great player all through his career, working his way in from the backs to front row as he got bigger and stronger. Proud father Paul Robertson came out of retirement to play with Brendon when he became eligible for Seniors - one of our many father/son combos over the years. It was good to see Brendon drop in to training a couple of weeks ago when he was home on leave from ADFA, hoping he and his Club have a great year in 2017! Well done mate!
Sad news with the passing of Len Martin - our club coach in 1994 and 95 - on 14 March. Father in law of club stalwart Robert Burns.
Our thoughts are with the family. The funeral is on Monday 20th March at 10am at Greenway Chapel Kincumber and after at Avoca Beach Bowling Club. |
