First game of the day was the u19s looking to win the premiership for the Club in a third consecutive year. And for the boys from last years u17s and last years u19s they were after their own consecutive victories. First half was scoreless for a long time before a Kye Blair try from a quick tap that was converted by Reece Piepers, who then kicked a penalty right on half time to make it 10-0. Almost straight after the break they were in for a converted try and it was back to 10-7. Another penalty to Reece Piepers took it to 13-7 then Michael Houssenloge was under the posts for a converted try before another penalty to Reece Piepers to go with his conversion to wrap up the 23-7 win. Reece Piepers was named the CCRU player of the match for his damaging running from the back, solid defence and perfect goalkicking. As Robert Burns has already mentioned, local businesses donate awards for the Grand Finals. Players player and 3pts to Michael Houssenloge, 2pts Sebastian Eguia, 1pt Matt Peebles. Watch the full game on youtube - you will see an incredible defensive effort that was matched by great work with the ball. So good to see the team play to its full potential when the pressure was on!

The last time their was a Womens competition on the Central Coast, the sharks won the 15 a side title in 2002, and one of the players was Renee Staben. 16 years later our 7s team got off to a great start when the Woy Woy player took the kickoff and ran straight at Inge Visser and Rachael Elcoate ... not a good career choice and the tone of the game was set by that early dominant tackle. Like the u19s the defensive effort was exceptional, and when we had possession there was always a big threat to their defensive line. It was fitting that Renee Staben was the first try scorer, starting and finishing a short side move to dive over the line. More quality attack on the half time hooter had Jessie Jensen with an untouched run to the line. That was the 10-0 lead. More of the same in the second half, some really good phase play before a Taylor Bateman long run that was finished by Inge Visser racing over under the posts and then kicking the conversion. Not long after Elana Withnall gave up a 10m start over 40m and still stopped a certain try with an amazing tackle and then claiming the ball. At the end Woy Woy did get a converted try to have the final score of 17-7. Make sure you watch the full game on youtube, the standard of play shows a huge improvement from the beginning of the season. Jessie Jensen was named the CCRU player of the match, and also got the players player and the 3pts for a faultless display in the backs. 2pts to Rachael Elcoate and 1pt Summer Witt. Big thanks to the local businesses who donated the awards that were presented back at the Sharkpool. The premiership shield returns to the spot on the Clubhouse wall where it has been since 2002! Senior Grand Finals! Early morning start at Woy Woy Oval for the Sharks with the u19s kicking off at 9:55 against Woy Woy.
