It was the third year in a row for the Avoca u14's to face Terrigal in the grand final, with the trophy one each. We knew this was going to be a very tight affair with only a maximum of 5 points separating the teams in 9 of our last 10 clashes.
We started the game strong in the first half, and the boys certainly followed the game plan that was set from the coaches. Half time was 17-7 to Avoca.
At half time it was stressed that Terrigal won't go away and while we need to keep attacking we also needed to dig in for a defensive battle to keep them out. With a strong penalty count of 13-1 in the second half against us, and two boys with yellow cards, the young lads just attacked in defense and were able to repel any advances from Terrigal. In the end the boys hung on for a very worthy 17-10 win. All the boys played exceptionally and it has been great to watch the skill levels and growth of these boys over the last 6 months. It's a true testament to the boys efforts and understanding. They are truly a pleasure to coach.
Points for the match went
1 point to Brock Hardy
2 points to Malakai Nicholson
3 point to team Captain Isaac Waddell
