It is that time of the year again, where we celebrate another great season of Rugby for the Sharks. The Seniors presentation night will be held at Avoca Beach Surf Club on 27 October. There we will get to honour our Premiership winning u19s and Womens 7s, those players who picked up team awards, those who have earned long service awards, our volunteers, and those who are selected to receive our major annual Club awards. Not to forgot those lucky enough to get a mention in the Oscar Awards!
To those new to the Seniors, bringing a partner is definitely encouraged. It is a chance to thank that special person in your life for putting up with your dedication to Rugby all season, by giving them a great night out with the best possible company. For those currently flying solo, this an opportunity to impress a first date with a room full of incredibly witty and attractive people who are all your best friends. Tickets are now on sale; cost is $80 per (legit) couple or $45 a single - with a $5 discount for u19 players ($75/40). Ian Cameron Secretary ABRU 25/9/2018 The 2012 Triple Crown winning all 3 grades was an amazing day for the Club... a few plays from the day are unforgettable and they are now in a short highlights film. 3rds had won through from the minor semi and were behind with not long to go, we get a penalty advantage but Ben Spindler didnt need that and calmly nailed the field goal that won the match. 2nds were also behind with not long to go, Ourimbah missed a penalty, Tom Russell went with a long 22 dropout and Elliot Dawkins was leading the chase, their player tried to chip over his head - but not high enough and Elliot took the catch and sprinted away for the match winning try leaving a winger unable to catch him .. ask Elliot about it and it probably was a 75m run! In 1sts Kariong had a fullback that had terrorised teams all season with his raw pace, from a scrum under pressure the big play was Matt Hipwell diving on the loose ball and winning a penalty, quick tap by Justin Staben, smart passing from Mitch Graham & David Gee (with Speedy Matthew Maloney getting flattened in back play) had the ball in Jacob Briggs hands 70m out, with fullback to beat and the fullback was left looking at thin air, we all knew Jacob was quick but that run was sensational. Then a few minutes from full time and trying to hang on to the lead we were under huge pressure again and first option kicker Mitch Graham had no space, tossed it across to Jonathan Hirst near the dead ball line and he made perfect contact with the ball that flew more than 60m and then bounced into touch only 35m from their line. An amazing kick uner such pressure, lots of familiar faces, lots of legends - a great day for the Sharks! |
