The day opened with the u19s in a very tough game v Woy Woy. 7-0 at the half turned into a solid 17-0 victory. Tries to Tristan Morris-bowyer & Tom Wood, with Reece Jacobs converting both and kicking a penalty. 1pt to all of the front row Henry Cumming, Hayden Davies & Tom Waterhouse , 2pts Tom Wood, 3pts & players player to Tristan Morris-bowyer. 2nds were in control all the way, but a bit rusty early before winning 41-0. Guest appearance by Andrew Smyth who has been doing a great job for the Club as a recruiter from his Brewarrina base this season. A very special family moment when Josh Davies came out of retirement to have a run with his two sons Jordan Davies & Hayden Davies as well as brother-in-law/uncle Paul Farah. Tries to Mick Arnold, Adam Chettle, Cameron Shaw, Julian Bacigalupo, Ben Francis, Andrew Smyth and Matt Kiddle who also landed 3 conversions. 1pt Isaiah Fairless, 2 pts Matt Kiddle, 3pts and players player Matthew Ritchie. Matt Peebles from the u19s made his debut in Grade, another young player with a big future. In 1sts a dominant display by our forward pack in the set pieces gave a great foundation for the backs. Hornsby stuck with it all the way though and it wasn't an easy win. The final score was 50-10. Tries to Matt Anderson, Mitchell Jacob, Luke Wiseman, Patrick Wheatley (2), Blake Jacob, an un-retired Emile Thomas and Dylan Cadogan who also kicked 5 conversions. 1pt to Blake Jacob & Emile Thomas, 2pts Matt Anderson, 3pts to Dylan Cadogan with Nathan Pickup the players player on first grade debut - Rhys Stratton also had a great game in first time starting in the top grade. Next week is a general bye for Grade, u19s and Womens for the Country Championships, and Juniors have their first round of competition matches.
No Junior games this weekend due to school holidays.
At the Sharkpool the day kicks off with the u19s playing Woy Woy at 11:20. Grade teams are playing Hornsby but unfortunately thier 3rds had to forfeit. So the next game is 1:40 when 2nds take field, followed by the top grade at 3pm. Should another great autumn day, so get down early and enjoy the good weather while watching some great rugby! The Womens 7s are having another gala day, this time at Kariong between 11am and 1pm. Congratulations to our captain/coach Inge Visser and all of the Waratahs women on their success in a fantastic SuperW final this evening!
