Congratulations to the Central Coast u17s: 2017 Country Champions. Special mention to the boys picked in Country squad: Matt Kokegei from our u17s, Adam Peruch who played with the Sharks for a couple of seasons before returning to his Kariong Club this year, and Matthew Peebles who played with the Sharks in 2016. Not forgetting Paul Briggs who was part of the coaching staff. Well done to all! (Thanks to Gary Head for the photo)

A big day, a long day, with some good results for the Sharks - unfortunately Terrigal too good on the day in the main game.
At Heazlett I have heard that the u7s, u8 & u9s all had a fantastic time, lots of fun, lots of tries and a great start to the day. In the comp ages wins to the u10s, u12s & u13s. At The Haven our u14s won the opening match, followed by the u16s getting stronger as the match went on for another good win. The u19s were in another really tight match, it might be a 4 team comp but every game is going to be a tough one! Despite having most of the possession the boys couldn't find the tryline until late in the second half when Isaac Barnes scored in the corner and converted from sideline. 7-0 was the final score. 1pt to Sebastian Bowcock, 2pts to Jordan Davies (late switch to 15 from his usual 7), Ronan Fitzpatrick & Jobe Graham with 3pts and players player to Sebastian Eguia for the 2nd week in a row. 3rds never really clicked on the day and were on the wrong end of a 3-23 scoreline. 1pt Benjamin Barrington, 2pts Jason Figallo, 3pts Steve Farrell with Jason Figallo getting players player. 2nds have a habit of beating Terrigal at their home and did it again today. A good 14-0 halftime lead slipped back to 17-12 before a great team try finished by Shaun Townsend sealed the game 22-12. Other tries to Nathan Brown & Josh Parish, with Will Byrne kicking 2 conversions and a penalty. This is going to raise some eyebrows, but the try of the day and possibly the season had Matt Ritchie charging towards the tryline at the end of some great running rugby - and then opting for a cross field kick to his winger, who got the try! Some old prop forwards were mumbling into their beers after that Matt! 1pt Ethan Fullagar and Will Byrne, 2pts Tommy Parrish - who was also players player in his comeback game. 3pts Shaun Townsend. Then on to first grade where we ran into a team that was in great form and applying continual pressure in attack and defense. They skipped out to an early 21-0 lead, and our team really did a good job to stabilise and hold the score there until half time. But more of the same in the second half made it a tough day for the 1s, though they kept trying well after full time to get a try but just couldn't make it. 0-49 was where it finished. 1pt Connor Kondrat & Ash Roberts, 2pts Blake Jacob & Patrick Wheatley, 3pts Chad Martin with players player Blake Jacob. Next week Seniors are at home to Woy Woy, start planning now to be there to give the team lots of support! Cheers Boys! Terrigal day .. if those two words don't have you ready for a day of playing and/or watching great Rugby - nothing ever will. Two grounds - Sharks v Trojans all day! At Heazlett our u7s start the day at 8am, then all ages through to the u13s at 1pm. Games finish at the Sharkpool with plenty of time for everyone to get over to the Haven for the big game. At The Haven the u14s kick off the day at 8am, followed by the u16s (u15s and u17s have byes) .. then a gap before our teams resume with the u19s at 11:20, 3rds at 12;30, 2nds at 1:40 and First Grade will kick off at 3:10 with a demo game between our u7 teams between 1sts and 2nds.
The little bit of rain this afternoon will just settle the dust and make the grounds perfect for running rugby. Make sure you see plenty of games at either or both grounds - but definitely be part of a huge Sharks crowd cheering on first grade! Good luck to all our teams, Cheers Boys! A good crowd all day at the Sharkpool and great to see so many of the new polo shirts on the Juniors who came back to watch the grade matches v Ourimbah. Day began with the u7s & u8s gold teams having a lot of fun. Always a fantastic start to the day! Then the u17s had a good win against Woy Woy, despite being behind early in the match.
The u19s game was a cracker, two really good young teams playing quality Rugby. 5-5 at half time became 5-15 to Kariong before a late converted try made a win possible, but it wasn't to be and score ended at 12-15. tries to Jordan Davies & Harry Fortey, with a conversion to ...wait for it ... Cooper Elliott - and it was a fantastic kick! 1pt Cooper Elliott, 2pts Isaac Barnes, 3pt and players player to Sebastian Eguia who is starting to make half back his position. Before today 3rds had not conceded a point, by the end of the game, unfortunately they had conceded 36 and only scored 35 to just miss out on a comeback victory. 2 tries and 5 conversions to Nathan Brown, tries to Julian Bacigalupo, Jordan Huszarek & Shane McMillan. 1pt Deon Rangi, 2pts Shaun Townsend, 3pts and players player Justin Thomas. 2nds was a tight match but we finished strongly to wrap it up 19-3. 2 tries Gareth Brown, try to Chris Newton and 2 conversions to Ash Roberts. 1pt Shaun Townsend, 2pts Ash Roberts, 3pts and players player Chris Newton. In first grade we got off to a great start and really dominated the early stages, with Nathan Brown scoring and converting a try for a 7-0 lead, they kicked a penalty to get back to 7-3 and a try late in the half had them ahead 7-8 at the break. We tried everything but couldnt get another try with a penalty to debutant Connor Kondrat being our only addition to the score while they added 3 converted tries to give the final 10-29 scoreline. 1 pt Blake Jacob and Connor Kondrat, 2pts Chad Martin, 3pts and players player Mitchell Jacob. Next week it is v Terrigal at Terrigal, make your plans now to be there to support the Sharks!! Cheers Boys! |
