Perfect day for Rugby, the weather did all of the right things. The u7s & u8s got to run around in the rain, and then it was dry and clear for the rest of the day. Which meant the ladies worked up a thirst for the champagne in their marquee, a fantastic event that appeared to have been appreciated by all who attended! Julia Gollan-Ninness & Deborah Morris will post more details and thanks to sponsors once they have recovered from their organisational efforts!
In the early games Avoca won the u16s and Woy Woy squared the ledger with a win in the u17s. The u19s played against a team short in numbers, but after while realised that you still have to do the basics correctly and it turned into a good hitout. Final score 74-5 with 3 tries to wingers Connor Kondrat & Jordan Sanchez, 1 try each to Cooper Elliott, Tim Newton, Ethan Fullagar, Isaac Barnes, Jordan Davies & Lockie Mackintosh. conversions to Tim Newton (2), Isaac Barnes (2), Connor Kondrat (2) and Lockie Mackintosh. all the coaches points went to the forwards who did the go-forward 1pt Justin Gilmore, 2pts Tim Newton, 3pts Isaiah Fairless. Players player was Jordan Sanchez who many times showed his great speed in attack. 3rds were sensational in winning 57-19 over the team in 2nd place in the comp. 2 tries to Ash Roberts, Patrick Wheatley & Chris Newton. tries to Jay Blance (and a conversion), Rhys Stratton & Justin Staben. Justin also kicked 5 conversions, got the 3pts and was players player! 1pt Ash Roberts and 2pts Chris Newton. Seconds built on the good form of last week to beat the competition leaders 29-19. 2 tries to Bradd Sheridan, tries to Mitch Mitchell & Tim Warwick with Sam Evans kicking 3 conversions and a penalty. 1pt Brad Bunce Mitchell, 3pts Julian Bacigalupo and 2pts 7 players player to Bradd Sheridan. Firsts knew it was going to be a tough day when Woy Woy scored in the opening play. from there they always kept just clear of us. Each time it looked like we were going to catch them, they managed the next score to keep us at bay. A late penalty and converted try to them sealed the 27-42 result. Tries to Joshua Fash Meadham, Pete Steele, Damon Boxsell & Bradd Sheridan with Mitchell Jacob kicking 2 conversions and a penalty. 1 pt to Pete Steele & Chad Martin, 2pts to Nathan Brown, 3pts and players player to Luke Wiseman. Next week Seniors away to Warnervale. Cheers Boys! The second round of Seniors competition begins this Saturday with the Sharks at home to Woy Woy. Ladies Day as well, with the event fully booked out, ensuring it should be a fun time inside the marquee. Big thanks to organisers Julia Gollan-Ninness & Deborah Morris ! The day starts at 8am with u7 green & u8 green, followed by u16s @ 9am, u17s @ 10:10 and u19s at 11:20. Then on to the grades with 3s at 12:30, 2s at 1:40 and the big game at 3pm. Very important matches for all our teams, so get there early and settle in for the day to give them maximum support. u15s are away at Kariong, u9 green and u12s are at The Haven, with all of our other Junior teams at Ettalong playing Woy Woy. The weather forecast keeps changing but is looking positive for a full days play with just enough rain to keep the dust down. Good Luck to all of our teams .. Cheers Boys!!
Will have to consult with some of the older members to see if we have ever had 4 sets of brothers in 1st grade before. Another very special 'family' day for the Sharks!
