Next week all teams u11-u17 are in the Junior semis at Woongarrah & Heazlett, and 1sts in their minor semi v Terrigal @ JBO. Junior minor semis are at Heazlett on Sunday, we need helpers all day, so plan to get to the ground to support our boys and help the Club. Cheers Boys!!
The day started with the u7 green & gold & u9s wrapping up their season with a home game. Then the u16s playing the top team in their age, an Ourimbah squad who were too strong on the day. The u17s game was a cracker, again we were playing the leading team and it was one of the best games of rugby you'll see. Tight, tough and heaps of skill from both sides, we held a small lead until a late try sealed the win over Warnervale. Those teams do it all again in the major semi next week. The improvement in this squad has been amazing. They only had one victory by 27 June, and haven't lost a game since! It was good to see a big turnout of u19s for their last game and they showed glimpses of what might have been in a tough season. Eventually going down to Terrigal 12-26. The good news is how many of the boys were selected in 1sts & 2nds during the year and helped out in all grades when reserves were needed - even today a few of them were on the bench and ready to help if there had been any injuries in 1sts. While their team results might not have been there, their contribution to the Club has been enormous! Tries to Thomas Starkey & Joshua Davies who also kicked the conversion. 1pt Tom Starkey & Conor Redmond, 2pts Wesley Chegwidden, 3pts & players player Ethan Fullagar. The Thirsties had a tough game against the Wambie Savers, having to score the last two tries to grab a 19-17 win. A week off now for the Minor Premiers. tries to Daniel Ranson, Josh Blackwell and what might be the individual try of the season for Eddie Williams, Luke McPhie landed 2 conversions. 1pt to Eddie WIlliams & Jesse Jackson, 2pts David Gee, 3pts & players player Chris Oakes. 2nds continued their strong late season form, but unfortunately the 54-7 win over Northlakes still left them in 5th place and just out of the finals. 4 tries to Jordan Huszarek, tries to Mitch Mitchell, Brook Cheezy Morrow, Josh Pearson & Tom Starkey. Nathan Smith converted 7 of 8. 1pt Brook Morrow, 2pts Jesse Pavlovich, 3 pts Josh Pearson, and players player to Jordan Huszarek. Then on to 1sts where the updates from the Showground for a long time had us thinking they might finish the same way as 2nds. But eventually the right result from the other game eased the tension for the coaches. On the field it was a game where The Entrance bravely kept putting in the effort, but our team were displaying the right form before the finals and got up 122-12. It has been a tough season for the Rams (and Northlakes), hopefully they can start the rebuild next year. Big day for Dylan Hardaker with 2 tries and 15 conversions. 2 tries to Luke Sheridan, Pete Steele, Sam Evans, Mitchell Jacob, Matt Anderson & Daniel Aguirre-Acevedo. tries to Joshua Fash Meadham, Ben Tonks, Emile Thomas & Mick Arnold. Blake Jacob also kicked a conversion. 1 pt to Pete Steele & Matt Anderson, 2pts Emile Thomas, 3pts & players player Josh Meadham.

Last game before the finals, and for Seniors it is the traditional big day of team photo, fancy dress AND hat day! Hawaiian theme followed by Eddie Williams playing after the game, with some special beers on tap. On the field it is Seniors v The Entrance/Northlakes. Day starts at the Sharkpool with u7 Green v Gold and u9s v the Entrance both at 8am. Then the u16s take on Ourimbah at 9.00 and the u17s at 10.10 v Warnervale. Both our opponents are leading their comps, so a good hit out for the boys before next weeks semi finals. u19s at 11.20 finish their season against Terrigal. At 12.30 the thirsty thirds - who have locked up the Minor Premiership - will have a very tough game as a win for the Entrance might jump them into the semis. The Seconds at 1.40 need to win with a bonus point and then rely on Hornsby defeating Warnervale for them to make it into the finals. Pretty much the same for the 1sts, a must win game, and then hopefully the form line holds true and Ourimbah beat Gosford for us to make it into the semis. So it is going to be a day full of quality rugby with a lot of tension as we await results from other grounds. Make a day of it, last chance to cheer on the Sharks before the finals kick off.
In the juniors the u8 gold, u10, u12, u13 & u15 Barbarians are at Ettalong with the u7 white, u8 green, u11 & u14s at The Haven. For the non-comp u7-u9 it is their last games of the season - make sure you have some fun! The u10s also finish up their first past the post comp, having made the most of their first season on a full length field. In a great result for the Club all other Junior teams will be playing the semi finals regardless of the results this Saturday. Good luck to every one taking the field for the Sharks this weekend ... Cheers Boys! A Beautiful summers day at the Sharkpool, not so good for the guys on field though! Day opened up with a field full of the youngest Sharks, 2 u7s games and an u8s game all running at the same time. Lots of fun and excitement for all. Then the u17s continued their recent great form, with their 6th straight win sealing a spot in the semis. u19s didnt play.
No thirds either so after a bit of a break and everyone keeping in the shade the 2nds went out and faced some very strong opposition from Kariong. The game was very close for a long time before we pulled away at the end for a 47-19 win. 2 tries to Moses Fotofili and tries to Josh Blackwell, Brook Cheezy Morrow (welcome back Cheezy!), Nathan Brown and Daniel Ranson. 5 conversions to Nathan Smith and 1 to Luke McPhie. Also a penalty try. 1pt Tim Warwick, 2pts Josh Blackwell and 3pts Jesse Pavlovich - Jesse Pav & Josh Blackwell shared the players player. 1sts started off quickly and coach Matt Parker was full of smiles after the opening tries were scored by front rowers. We always had control of the game but Kariong really put in a big effort even with many players backing up from the 2nds. Final score was 72-29. Big day for Joshua Fash Meadham who scored 2 tries, kicked the last conversion and got the 3pts and players player! 2 tries and 2 conversions to Mitchell Jacob, 1 try and a conversion to birthday boy Daniel Aguirre-Acevedo. Tries to Luke Sheridan, Max Stewart, Elliot Dawkins, Blake Jacob, Jack Booker, Justin Staben, and Thomas Starkey - who scored off his very first touch in his first appearance in first grade. Nathan Brown kicked 2 conversions. 1pt Luke Wiseman & debutant Matt Norman, 2pts Max Stewart. Next week is the final round before the semis and we host The Entrance/Northlakes in Seniors. Again we must win both 1sts and 2nds to have any chance of a spot in the semis and 3rds will be looking to wrap up the minor premiership. Team photo day for Colts and Seniors, fancy dress day with a Hawaiian theme and music after the games from Eddie Williams . A big day for everyone! Thanks to the good crowd who showed up to support us today .. Cheers Boys This Saturday Seniors are home to Kariong. The day at heazlett starts with the u7 gold, u7 white and u8 gold all kicking off at 9am, 3 games on the go at once! Then the u17s v kariong at 10:10 and the u19s v Warnervale at 11:20. Then a short break as Kariong don't have 3s, with the 2s at 1:40 and 1s at 3:00 ... both games are "must win" events to keep finals chances alive. Thirsty 3rds, make sure you all get to the ground anyway, as the 2s have a long injury list and will need your help!
Most of our Juniors are at Kariong, playing Warnervale or the home team, with the u10s at The Haven and u8 green at Ettalong. 16s have a bye. Good luck to all the Sharks!! Cheers Boys |
