A big weekend socially for the Club with the 40th dinner at the Surf Club on Saturday, which will be a huge night as it is fully booked out. On Sunday from 11am it is the 40th family picnic day. It will be great fun so make the effort to get there!
On the field this weekend the Sharks grade teams have the bye, with the u19s playing Ourimbah at Ourimbah at 11:20.
On Friday night CCJRU is trialling some night rugby at Sir Joseph Banks Oval. The u8 Gold play terrigal red at 5:30pm, followed by the u12s playing warnervale at 6:20pm. Hope it isn't too cold for parents on the sideline! Saturday morning at Heazlett start with the u7 gree, and u7 gold playing their games at 8am followed by the u8 green and u9s. Then at 9:20 it is the u10s, with the u14s wrapping up the day at 10:10. Away from home, the u7 white are playing Northlakes at Ourimbah at 10:40 and the u13s playing Woy Woy at Ettalong at 11:10.

Tough day at the office for the Sharks, 1sts got off to a great start with the opening try, and then quickly were down 5-7 after an intercept. A long range try to the hosts after an error and at half time we were down 5-14. Another turnover try from when we had been deep in attack, with a penalty goal and at 5-22 it wasn't looking good. But the boys dug in and scored a couple of well worked tries to get it back to 15-22 with not long to go. More quality play had us deep in attack and looking like squaring the match when another slip up gave them possession and another score from inside their own 22 to wrap up the match 15-27 right on full time. Most of the time our defence had been sensational, but just couldn't stop their destructive counter attack. Jack Booker had a huge game back in the forwards and took the 3pts, players player and scored a try. Matt Anderson 2pts and a try, the other try to Daniel Aguirre-Acevedo. 1pt to Pete Steele and to Jake McPhie - Jake was heroic in the front row. He has a shoulder injury, but when he found out that Luke Sheridan would be unavailable he immediately volunteered to take his place, regardless of the pain that he knew would result. Huge effort from a man in his first year at the Club.
2nds opened the scoring in their match with a penalty goal but unfortunately that was the extent of their scoring. Ourimbah showed why they are comp leaders and kept finding their way to the line to take the match 3-31. A big welcome back to the Sharks for Tom Russell, who kicked the penalty and was as good as ever in at half back - even getting a run in 1s later in the day. 3pts and players player to Shaun Thompson, 2pts Jesse Pavlovich, 1pt Mick Critter Arnold.
The thirsty thirds continued on their winning way with a bonus point win 29-10, big Eddie Williams providing some real excitement when he set off on a couple of destructive runs to set up and score tries. Tod Wadey shows his wide skill set with some line out throwing. Tries to Stephen Lamb (again!) who also got voted players player, Matt Norman, Eddie Williams & Tyler Mcmanus. Luke McPhie converted 3 and kicked a penalty. 2pts to Matt Norman and 1pt Luke McPhie.
The u19s started slowly and didn't really get into their game until the 2nd half, when it was too late to change the result, brave effort though and only just missed a 4try bonus point, going down 17-40. Tries to Josh Davies, Rhys Stratton & Tyler McManus, Sam Evans kicked a conversion. 3pts to Rhys Stratton, 2 pts and players player to Thomas Starkey, 1pt to Josh Davies And Ethan Fullagar.
The u17s kicked a late penalty to continue their great run of victories over teams ahead of them on the ladder with an 11-10 win over Terrigal. u16s put up a good showing against the comp leaders though couldn't match them on the scoreboard.
Other Junior games had mixed results: the u15s Barbarians going down to gosford, the u14s getting pipped 19-22 by Ourimbah, 13s defeated Terrigal in a close one 10-7, 12s ran into the comp leaders Ourimbah having a good day and finished without the win. u11s were winners 34-10 over Ourimbah and the u10s had to travel up to Warnervale and returned without a win but a lot of pride in their effort. We say it every week, the u7, u8s & u9s are fantastic games to watch, the skill levels of these young Sharks is just wonderful, and the games are always entertaining. Lots of fun had by all and lots of proud parents on the sidelines.
Next week Seniors have a the bye and most Juniors are at heazlett. Also the weekend of the 40th celebrations, the dinner booking have been great, make sure you get your payments to Deborah Morris this week. Don't forget the Club picnic day on the Sunday, a chance for all the family to have some fun
Cheers Boys!!

This week the Sharks take on Ourimbah, Seniors and older Juniors playing away at their home ground. The day at Ourimbah Rugby Park starts with u16s at 9am, then the 17s take on Terrigal at 10.10, u19s 11.10 and the thirsty thirds at 12.30. Seconds really need a win against the competition leaders at 1.40, then the top grade at 3pm where Ourimbah have the slight edge on ladder by way of better for and against. Important games all day and should be some sensational rugby on show.
Most of the other Juniors are at Heazlett, starting with a couple of u7 games at 8am, right through to the u15 Barbarians starting at 1.10pm. The u8 Gold are at Terrigal and the u10s at Warnervale.
Good Luck to all our teams tomorrow and lets try for a big crowd to cheer on 1sts at Ourimbah. Cheers Boys!

Fingers have finally thawed out enough to get todays results online. Definitely the coldest day on the sideline I have had at Avoca! Some entertaining Junior games started the day with the 7s, 8s and 9s all showing that the next decade of Sharks players are on their way. The u13s were in a really tight game all the way, a late score grabbing a win for them.
Then on to the Seniors v Hornsby and 3rds returned to their winning ways with a solid 35-14 win, with all the points came from 7 tries. 3 to Gareth Brown, 1 each to Chris Oakes, Iva Motusaga, Jack Courtney, Tom Maloney & Eddie Williams. 1pt to Gareth Brown & Justin Thomas, 2pts David Gee, 3pts Iva Motusaga and players player to Iva's cousin having his first game with the Sharks (hopefully many more to come!) Eddie Williams.
2nds maintained their strong recent form with a big 52-7 victory. The forwards controlled the tight work allowing the backs to do what they do best. 2 tries Nathan Brown & Patrick Wheatley, 1 try to Shaun Thompson, Harry Watkins, Thomas Starkey & Cameron Shaw. 6 conversions to Luke McPhie. 1pt to Pat Wheatley & Nathan Brown, 2 pts Cameron Shaw, 3pts to Matt Featherstone (who was rewarded for this strong showing with his first ever run in 1st grade later in the day). Tim Warwick was players player.
1sts under the captaincy of Luke Sheridan seemed to have all the play early in the game, but one slip and Hornsby were under the posts for a 7-0 lead. 2 tries just before half time had us ahead 14-7 at the break. A much sharper performance in the second half and the final result 47-14 to the Sharks. tries to Chad Martin, Blake Jacob, Pete Steele, Luke Wiseman, Mitchell Jacob, Daniel Aguirre-Acevedo & Mick Critter Arnold. Dylan Hardaker was kicking them from everywhere with a perfect 6 from 6 conversions before he came off late in the game. 1pt to Pete Steele & Dan Aguirre-Acevedo, 2pts and players player to Mitch Jacob, 3pts Joshua Fash Meadham. That wrapped a good day for the Sharks, bonus point wins in all 3 grades.
The Hornsby Club were great guests and came back in good numbers for the after game speeches and drinks. Highlight being the huge cheer for a very impressive polishing off of her celebratory drink by 1st grade referee Lauren Kelly, a Sharks player back when we had a very successful women's team - she is now a high quality referee mainly in the Newcastle competition.
A tough round next week for all Senior grades, away to Ourimbah - hopefully in warmer weather!
Juniors: Great day for the junior Sharks in icy conditions. U11s beat Ourimbah convincingly 34-0, u12s won v Terrigal Red 22-12, u13s beat Warnervale in a close one 12-10, u14s lost to The Entrance 21-10, u15s Baabaas lost to Terrigal 44-0, and u16s played strongly against Warnervale to win 58-5.
Cheers Boys!!
