It will be a great day At Heazlett, seeing such a wide range of our players, so find some time to get there to support our teams. Good luck to all the Sharks, Cheers Boys!
This Saturday is Seniors home to Northlakes, and a full day of Rugby with lots of Juniors at Heazlett as well. Day starts with u8 gold and u9s playing Terrigal teams at 8am, then the u16s also v Terrigal at 9am. Next up is the u14s playing Warnervale at 10:10, followed by the u19s playing Ourimbah. Senior players we need you there to support the u19s and to also help out with the BBQ and around the ground. There is no 3rd grade this week so the 12:30 slot has been given ...to the most fun of the day ... the u7s. The u7 Green playing woy woy and the u7 White playing Northlakes. Then the big boys take the field in 2nd grade at 1:40 and the top grade kicks off at 3pm. The u7 Gold and u12s are at Ourimbah, with the u8 Green and u13s at The Haven. Byes for the u10, u11, u17 & u15 Barbarians.

Tough day at Showground for the Sharks. A lot of effort expended in the heavy mud, without the scoreboard showing any rewards. Day started with the closest game and the u16s just getting pipped by Woy Woy 5-7. Then the u17s in another tough game went down 0-10 to Gosford . The u19s ran into a hot Gosford side that contained one of the best young players seen on the coast in a long time, I think he scored 3 of their tries in our 0-31 loss. A lot of good individual performances... from our boys, but the cohesion wasn't there. 1 pt to Ethan Fullagar & Tom Starkey, 2pts Tyler Mcmanus, 3pts Rhys Stratton and players player to Luke Wiseman. The 3rds also faced a much bigger Gosford side, and if a couple of opportunities had gone there way it might have been a different result to the 0-17 loss. 1pt to Stephen Lamb, 2pts Jesse Pavlovich, 3pts Ben Barrington and players player to Anthony Barbaro who made the big effort to shift from spectator to player when our numbers were thin. he then proceeded to show the form that won him the Central Coast 3rd Grade player of the year a couple of seasons back .. hoping he is back for the long term.
2nd Grade almost got our first win of the day, just going down 7-13. 1pt to Tom Starkey, 2pts Jesse Pavlovich & David Ireland (who also took out players player) and 3pts to John Paterson. Daniel Ranson got the try, converted by Jordan Huszarek. Special mention to Thomas Starkey who got points in both u19s & 2nds despite needing running repairs after getting a boot stud through his lip in the first minutes of the 19s. Then on to 1st grade and a slow, muddy pitch not exactly suited to our up tempo playing style. Huge effort from everyone, no replacements at all, just a lot of hard slog and big hearts. Emile Thomas was incredible, non-stop smashing the ball up and always there to to make the tackles. 3pts and players player for him. 2pts to Mitchell Jacob, his second Start in the 1s and solid in stopping any threats down his wing. 1pt to Jimmy Latham, who scored our try - with Dylan Hardaker kicking the conversion and a penalty in the 10-20 loss. Congratulations to Ben Tonks, getting his first start in first grade and giving a great performance, good to see him resuming a Rugby career that was so good as a Junior. Everyone should be very proud of all our players today .. make sure get to the games next week at the Sharkpool v Northlakes (and Ourimbah in the u19s) Cheers Boys! Sorry folks but just heard from Heazlett that the overnight rain added to all the water from yesterday has led to the ground being closed. That means games for u7 white, both u8s, u9, u10s, u11s & u15 Barbarians have all been cancelled. All other games for Sharks teams are ON.
This week the Senior Sharks travel to the Showground to take on an undefeated Gosford side. The day at Gosford commences with the u16s playing Woy Woy at 9am, then it is Avoca v Gosford for the rest of the day with the u17s at 10:10, u19s 11:30, 3rds 12;30, 2nds 1:40 before the big game kicks off at 3pm. Word from Gosford is for spectators to bring your gumboots.
Other Juniors have the 12s,13s & 14s with a bye as it is Country Championship weekend for those ages. the u15 B...arbarians are at home to Gosford at11:00, preceded by the 11s at 10:10, 9s & 8s (Green v Gold) at 8:40 and the u7 Whites at 8am. The u7 green are at Woy Woy at 8am and the u7 Gold at Kariong v Northlakes at 12:30pm. Looks like another day with proper winter conditions, everyone have some fun and try to get to Gosford to cheer on Seniors in the afternoon .. Cheers Boys! |
