From Steve Jelfs ...

I wish to advise that another of our former players, John Robinson, who played in the early 80s passed away recently after a long battle with cancer. I believe he passed away on 30 November.

John was a tough forward and a great guy who got on well with all players. I think he was our club captain at the time. John has been living in the Tweed Heads area for several years and kept in close contact with several players from the 80s era and our thoughts are with his wife Bev and his children. He always was a true blue Shark supporter.

This is sad news especially after the recent death of Mick Swift. Both guys are going to be greatly missed.

JUNIORS COACHING

Hi all Sharks members,
 
As we celebrate and wrap up the 2015 season we are looking to begin preparation for the 2016 season by taking expressions of interest to be considered as a junior coach. This process is not designed to push any current coaches out of their roles, but to ensure we have the right mix of skills and experience for each age group, possibly identify other suitable members of our club who may have a desire to coach, and to ensure the earliest announcement of appointments. This will ensure all players and parents are aware of their coaching staff by registration for the 2016 season.
 
Your expression of interest needs to contain your coaching experience, coaching courses completed and the age group for which you which to considered. Prior experience and the completion of coaching courses is not essential, however a willingness to complete any relevant course is. When considering which age group you wish to be considered for, please be mindful of the coaching style, the attitude and approach that is relevant to the players' age. Avoca Rugby Club prides itself on providing a fun and safe rugby experience for all juniors. We are not driven by success at the junior ranks, but more concerned with player participation, team and club spirit, enjoying playing rugby with your mates and fostering the development of our juniors into our future grade players.
