In first grade it took over 20mins for the first points via a Patrick Wheatley try diving over from the base of a ruck, two penalty goals to Connor Kondrat took the lead out to 11-0 at half time. After the break they came out firing and it wasn't long until they had two quick tries and a real tight game at 11-10. That's how the scored stayed for most of the game, with them having most of the possession and our defence just amazing. Near the end Matt Anderson made a great midfield break but was going so fast he blew out a boot - we kept the pressure on until Emile Thomas smashed over for the try that took us out to the final 16-10 scoreline. A great win against a Warnervale team that will probably be right in it at the business end of the season. 1pt to the twins Mitchell Jacob & Blake Jacob, 2pts Elliot Dawkins, 3pts and players player rewarding a huge game by Emile Thomas. Unfortunately the Hoban-Woods Cup between our Clubs is decided on points aggregate and they won it back 38-39. Next Saturday our Colts play Woy Woy at Ourimbah, Third Grade play The Entrance at JBO and the top two grades have a bye as The Entrance doesnt have teams in higher grades. Cheers Boys
Another brilliant day weather wise, with mixed results for the Senior Sharks. 19s were at The Haven and it was two tries each, but the home team got the win 10-14. Tries to Liam Donsworth & Michael Hobden. 1pt Justin Gilmore & Isaiah Fairless, 2pts Liam Donsworth, 3pts & players player Michael Hobden. Up at Woongarrah there was a great turn out of players to ensure we had a strong 3rds team, some old faces pulling on the boots for the first time this season. It was real arm wrestle 7-7 when full time was due, a long range penalty to us, Shaun Townsend put his hand up to take the kick and cleared the crossbar by 50cm to grab the 10-7 win. David Gee got the try that Will Byrne converted. 1pt and players player to Shaun Townsend, 2pts Benjamin Barrington, 3pts in a great return to green Aussie Bob Hurrell. Seconds was another really tight game .. 12-12 inside the last 15 mins, and they nabbed a couple of late tries to get a 12-22 win. Tries to Luke Sheridan & Cameron Shaw and a conversion to Ash Roberts. 1pt Dylan Hardaker, 2pts Jordan Huszarek, 3pts Matthew Ritchie - players player to Ethan Fullagar.

This week the Sharks Grade teams head to Woongarrah to take on Warnervale. The u15s & u17s will be there earlier in the day as well. 3rd grade kicks off at 12:30, 2nds at 1:40 and first grade at 3:00pm where we take on another team above us on the ladder. This Saturday is their Ladies Day, so a good reason for our female supporters to make the trip to cheer on our players. The u19 Colts are at the Haven at 11:20 v Terrigal. Most of the other Junior teams are playing at Heazlett, full draw available at http://www.rugbylink.com.au/common/pages/public/rv/upcomingmatches.aspx?entityid=53171 Good luck to all the Sharks on Saturday, Cheers Boys!
What a great day .. the clouds cleared and suddenly it was summer again! Started with our older Junior teams - 15s did well, it is just great that they are getting to play Rugby with so many other Clubs not having a team. 16s & 17s had good victories. Then on to the u19s playing a Woy Woy team short of players. We didn't have our full squad on deck as so many were playing first grade later in the day. Ended up 50-0 with 2 tries to Cooper Elliott, and tries to Henry Cumming (always good to see a big prop steamroller over the line) Jordan Davies, Isaac Barnes, Jobe Graham, Adam Chettle & Tristan Morris-bowyer. Isaac Barnes landed 5 conversions. 1pt Adam Chettle, 2pts Isaiah Fairless, 3pts and players player to Cooper Elliott. I have spoken to Adam Shakoff's mother - the break was confirmed, he will be operated on tomorrow to have a plate put in. best wishes for a quick recovery Adam! Third grade returned to winners circle and had a solid 19-5 win. Tries to Cameron Shaw, Sebastian Eguia & Nathan Brown who also kicked 2 conversions. 1pt to Troy Myers & Daniel Reihana (great to have both those men back in Sharks jerseys!) 2pts Steve Farrell, 3pts Thomas Starkey with Daniel Reihana getting the players player. Seconds were down 0-19 at the half but came back really strongly to just miss out 17-19. Tries to Adrian Jones, Mick Arnold & Gareth Brown, with one conversion to Rob Magrath. 1pt Dylan Hardaker, 2pts Cooper Elliott, 3pts and players player Matthew Ritchie. Then on to the big game against a Woy Woy team ahead of us on the ladder. They opened the scoring with a penalty, we replied with two converted tries for a 14-3 half time lead. They came out firing after the break and quickly got the score back to 10-14. They had all of the field position for most of that second half but our much smaller forward pack were fantastic in keeping their big men under control. One more converted try got us to 21-10 that was the final score. 2 tries to Chris Newton, Blake Jacob got the other one, with Connor Kondrat converting all 3. 1pt to all of the front row Joshua Fash Meadham, Tim Newton & Jake McPhie, 2pts Chad Martin, 3pts and players player Blake Jacob. Great effort from the three u19s players starting 1st grade for the first time - Tim Newton, Harrisen Bowcock & Liam Donsworth - all had huge games in the forwards with Connor Kondrat also from the u19s strong at fullback. Here is your fun statistic for the week, first grade today between them had played 791 comp age (u10-17) Junior games for the Club - the progression of our Juniors into Seniors is something we have every right to be very proud of! Next week Grade travel to Warnervale, with the u19s playing Terrigal at The Haven. Cheers Boys! This Saturday might be a little damp, but hopefully all of the games will go ahead as scheduled. Full day at Heazlett v Woy Woy (apart from the u16s playing Terrigal Red) starting with the u15s at 8am. 16s at 9am, 17s at 10.10am and 19s at 11.20. Thirds at 12.30, 2nds at 1.40 and the first grade fixture kicks off at 3pm. First Grade has a youthful look this week, exciting to see our own Juniors stepping up to the top grade:
Joshua Fash Meadham Tim Newton Jake McPhie Elliot Dawkins Harrisen Bowcock Liam Donsworth Blake Jacob Chad Martin Damon Boxsell Justin Staben Patrick Wheatley Mitchell Jacob Matt Anderson Chris Newton Connor Kondrat Good luck to all our teams and good luck to the u12, u13 & u14 rep players at Country Championships ...Cheers Boys! |
