15 August Review

After a long day at The Haven, Seniors leave with 2 wins and a loss. Earlier in the day the u15 Barbarians started the day showing their continued huge improvement before going down 10-24. u16s started very slowly and got behind 0-14 early in the game .. and the score stayed that way for the rest of the match. They are struggling with a lot of injuries and great to see them compete so well. Then to the u17s who keep on getting better every game. It was nailbiter and they got the result 10-7 and now have a chance to make the major semi. Unfortunately the injuries in our u19s ranks meant we couldn't get a team together, but the boys did put in a good performance in a 7s match, though ended up with another player injured and with the concussion protocols out for the season. Good news is that Ash Sim returned from hospital after observation in time to see some of 1sts and all is well for him.
The thirsty thirds were incredibly impressive in wrapping up a 20-5 victory. Tries to Iva Motusaga, Josh Davies & Matt Norman. A conversion & penalty to Luke McPhie. 1 pt and players player to Moses Fotofili, 2pts Eddie Williams and 3pts to Matt Norman. 2nds took the early lead with the gale behind them, but conceding a try on half time looked like it might been damaging. And it was, with terrigal getting to a 21-13 lead. A try and then a fantasic sideline conversion from Mick Critter Arnold got it back to 20-21.Then on full time we got a penalty 40m out and into the gale - Luke McPhie stayed cool and nailed the kick. Biggest cheer I have heard at the rugby for a long time. Crowd and players went wild!! The slim hopes of finals qualification are still there for the 2s. Tries to Nathan Smith & Luke Yates. Nathan also a conversion and 2 penalties. Mick Arnold a conversion and of course Luke McPhie a penalty. 1pt & players player Tim Warwick, 2pts Jordan Huszarek, 3pts Jared Fitzsimmons.
Then the big game where terrigal started with the wind and made the most of their possession and field position to get out to 20-0. A try to Max Stewart, converted by Dylan Hardaker right on half time had us behind 7-20 but running with the wind in the 2nd half. Unfortunately we couldn't add to our score, and they also stayed scoreless for 7-20 at full time.1pt Emile Thomas & Pete Steele (also players player), 2pts Mitchell Jacob, 3pts Jack Booker.

A pretty good day for the junior Sharks against Terrigal.10s won 29-24, 11s won 36-14, 12s lost 33-5, 13s won 24-19, 14s won 27-5, 15s lost 24-12, 16s lost 14-0, & 17s won 10-7. Well done all.

Next week v Kariong @ Heazlett Cheers Boys!!
