After a slow start it turned into another good day for the Sharks Seniors teams against Woy Woy. First grade were down 15-19 at half time but did all of the scoring the second half to finish with a 28-19 victory to retain the David Steele Cup. Plenty of great players across field, but a special mention for the front row, a first time ever combination of Jake McPhie, Rhys Stratton & Tim Newton. Against a much bigger pack we were mostly dominant in the scrums and still these three spent all day making important tackles as well. Rhys doing that despite heavy tape on his head covering a cut that was opened up early in the game. Tries to Liam Donsworth, Pete Steele & Julian Bacigalupo, 2 conversions and 3 penalties to Dylan Cadogan. 1pt Emile Thomas, 2pts Shaun Townsend, 3pts Rhys Stratton with Pete Steele the players player. Seconds also got a win, 19-12. Always ahead in the game just never able to kick away to a big enough lead to feel comfortable. Already on facebook is the sensational try-saving tackle made by Adam Peruch. Tries to Mitchell Bartholomew (Beames), Adam Peruch and Matt Kiddle who also landed 2 conversions. 1pt Adam Peruch, 2pts Will Byrne playing at #7 and 3pts to Patrick Wheatley at fullback. Will Byrne also players player. Thirds had a bit of a struggle, short of numbers and front rowers made for a difficult day. A big effort from all the boys meant that they competitive despite being down a player all match. Eventually on the wrong side of a 12-34 scoreline. Tries to Mitchell Jacob & Jobe Graham with Rylie Lewis kicking a conversion.1pt to Rob Magrath & Jobe Graham, 2pts Ben Orman, 3pts Tristan Morris-bowyer - Ben Orman the players player. The Womens 7s team continues to improve, with so many new players every match is like an extra training session and Inge Visser is doing a fantastic job in coaching the team. In the first game they got behind early but only conceded one try in the second half before the 0-33 finish. The first half of the second game was also a great effort, tied at 5-5 at the break. In the second half Woy Woy were able to make the most of their opportunities and it finished 5-27. That's against the team most likely to lead the comp, so plenty of good points to take into the rest of the season. For the day 1pt to Ally Woutersz on her debut for the Club - she also scored the try, 2pts Taylah Welsh, 3pts Summer Witt. The players player was shared between Rachael Elcoate and Summer Witt. Next week Seniors at the Sharkpool v Warnervale
