Yep that was cold on sidelines, much warmer on the field for the Senior Sharks teams. First game of the day was the u19s playing Hamilton Hawks in Newcastle and going down 14-45. A tough match for the boys but the experience will be handy when they get back to playing local teams. Tries to Henry Cumming & Matt Peebles with Reece Jacobs kicking two conversions. 1pt Adam Peruch, 2pts Tristan Morris-bowyer & Harry Magriplis, 3pts Harry Layton with Henry Cumming the players player. AT Woy Woy Oval the womens 7s faced up to the strong Woy Woy team and in the first game played great rugby to just lose 7-15. Second was a bigger margin but no less effort 0-24. 1pt Zali Seisun, 2pts Ally Woutersz,3pts and players player Taylah Welsh. Then to Gosford Showground and the thirds with a good 19-7 win against a team that is always strong. Thanks to all of the u19s who jumped straight off the bus to help out. Special mention to Chris Lewis & Rylie Lewis who added to our long history of father/son combinations playing together in the centres. Tries to Daniel Ranson, Shane McMillan & Chris Lewis, conversions to Rylie Lewis & Ben Orman. 1pts Ben Orman & Chris Lewis, 2pts Rob Magrath, 3pts Jakob van der Bruggen with Ben Orman the players player. Second grade had only their second loss of the season missing out 19-31. Lots of good work during the game just didnt get translated into points. Tries to Nathan Pickup, Matt Peebles & Matt Kiddle, conversions Matt Kiddle & Will Byrne. 1pt Matt Kiddle, 2pts Kye Blair, 3pts and players player Chris Newton. Again thanks to the u19s who all had strong games. On to first grade and it became a very tough assignment very early in the match when to the surprise of everyone, and especially Pete, Pete Steele was shown a red card. What it did allow to happen was for the other players to show that they had the strength and courage to battle against the odds and grab the win 22-19. Huge effort by everyone, but especially the very young forward pack. When Luke Sheridan had to leave the field - five of the seven forwards were players from last years Premiership winning u19s team, including Aidan King making his first grade starting debut in the second row. I could have written something about every player today, all of them at some time doing something exceptional in defence or attack to keep us in the game. Great team effort in securing the 4 ladder points. Tries to Liam Donsworth, Daniel Reihana & Joe Carroll, Dylan Cadogan landing 2 conversions and a penalty. 1pt Joe Carroll, 2pts Aidan King, 3pts Harrisen Bowcock with players player shared between Harrisen Bowcock & Dylan Cadogan. The day finished on a less impressive note when the Golden Schooner was lost to the home team. Next week is a general bye, except for the Womens 7s who will be playing at Ourimbah. Then Grade away to The Lakes.
