Seniors were away at ourimbah today, and it was a tough day. Now ins - some results and some good signs to build on. The opened with the Womens 7s, in the first game they went down 14-36 (tries to Rianda Barnes & Jessie Jensen both converted by Rachael Elcoate) and in the second game they got a little closer but finished on the wrong side of a 5-22 scoreline (Hannah Stewart got the try) . 1pt Rianda Barnes, 2pts Priya Lama, 3pts to Jessie Jensen. U19s had a large contingent of the squad away playing the u18 Country Championships and lost this one to Warnervale 8-28. Tristan Morris-Bowyer got the try Hayden Davies kicked a penalty as well as getting players player and 2 coach points. 3pts Eamon Powell and 1pt to Liam Vanezis & Tom Wood.
Third grade just missed out 10-11. Great to see a couple of famous names in Iva Motusaga & Sam Sooialo back on the field for the Sharks, as well as debuts for the Club by Jacob Jakob van der Bruggen, and Matthew Malakou. Rylie Lewis from our u17s made his grade debut, won't be long before we have another father/son combo with Rylie and Chris Lewis. Iva Motusaga scored the try, converted by Rylie Lewis (from the sideline I am told) and Rob Magrath kicked a penalty. 3pts Joe Carroll, 2pts Iva Motusaga, 1pt Sam Sooialo.
Seconds was another tight loss 25-29, the bonus points for a close losses in 2s and 3s could be vital at the end of the season. Mick Arnold got 2 tries, Daniel Ranson arrived on the field and crossed the line almost straight away, Matt Kiddle converted 2 and kicked 2 penalties. Patrick Wheatley 3pts, Pete Steele 2pts on his return after a long injury break, Daniel Reihana & Aidan King 1pt, with Dan also getting players player.
In first grade we paid the price for not finishing off a lot of early opportunities, when they escaped the early pressure a couple of quick converted tries left them with a safe lead that we weren't able to pull back. Wrong side of a 15-38 result. Luke Sheridan & Julian Bacigalupo got the tries, 1 conversion to Shaun Townsend and a penalty to Dylan Cadogan. 3pts Julian Bacigalupo, 2pts Matt Anderson, 1pt Luke Sheridan with Luke Wiseman the players player. Next Saturday is the biggest home day of the season .. Sharks v Terrigal for all 5 Senior teams!
