Mixed results for the Sharks today. The opening Junior games had the u16s playing the comp leaders and a slow start made it a tough day, though they did finish strongly. The u17s continue to improve every game, today's performance was exceptional against last years champions - we got a well deserved win which now has the boys a chance to make the top 2. Colts also had a slow start but really put it together well in the 2nd half before going down 7-22. 1pt Blake Heron, 2 pts Ryan Newcombe, 3pts Thomas Starkey and players player Tyler Mcmanus who scored the try that was converted by Matt Ritchie. Thirds looked good for a lot of the game, but Gosford finished stronger with us losing 10-18. Tries to Eddie Williams and Nick Whitton. 1pt Alistair Fisher, 2pts and players player Iva Motusaga with Daniel Reihana getting the 3pts. 2nds was an opportunity lost, another strong Gosford finish had the scoreline at 19-22. Tries to John Paterson, Paul Leef & Jordan Huszarek, with Nathan Smith kicking 2 conversions in his comeback game. 1pt to Tom Starkey & Jesse Pavlovich, 2pts John Paterson and Ryan Sturgess backing up his very disturbing pre-match portrait with a great game that won him the 3pts and players player. Then on to 1st grade and a very important match for both squads. Gosford got an early 3-0 lead, but we scored 4 quick tries (into the wind) to jump to 22-3 before a late try had us up 22-10 at the break. The boys finished strongly and another 3 2nd half tries took the final score to 39-10. Nathan Brown was called up from 3rds again and had a sensational game to score 3 tries, get 2pts and the players player. Matt Anderson scored 2 tries and got 3pts from the coaches, tries also to Luke Wiseman & Mitchell Jacob, Dylan Hardaker converted 2 of the tries in tricky kicking conditions and also got 1pt as did Emile Thomas.
