Fantastic day at Heazlett today with the juniors against Woy Woy Lions all teams played outstanding rugby and was great to see some little Lions (wish a took at pic was so cute) on the park. I can safely say Rugby was the winner today. Thank you to all the coaches and managers, parents and supporters for the BBQ and canteen duties and thank you Avoca Beach Golden Oldies for the referees and setup - the day ran incredibly smoothly love the blue green and gold !

www.youtube.com/watch?v=3THvQ0g8O74&feature=youtu.be A Fantastic day of Rugby at the Sharkpool - six games played and not more than a converted try the difference in any of them. The first Womens game started the run of close results with Terrigal a little stronger and a 10-15 scoreline. Both tries to returning captain coach Inge Visser. In the second the scores were level 12-12 at full time. Tries to Rachael Elcoate & Inge Visser, with Inge kicking the conversion. Players points went to: 1pt Rachael Elcoate, 2pts Hannah Stewart & on debut for the Club Deborah Morris - (many of you would know Deborah for her long involvement with our Juniors, great that she is now playing for the Club she has given so much to as a volunteer!) 3pts to Jessie Jensen and players player for the day was Inge Visser. In between those games the Colts also had a very tight tussle, some great Rugby bodes well for the future of both Clubs, eventually our boys went down 13-19. The match had to be called off early while Hayden Davies was being treated for a possible serious injury - Everyone was glad to receive the news is that it was all clear for Hayden once he had been checked over at hospital. Great to see that the response to the 'mayday' call was so well done by referee and players. Also great to see such professional treatment from our medical staff. Tries to Finn Flaherty & Adam Peruch with Reece Jacobs kicking a penalty. 1pts Solomon Shepherd, 2pts Liam Vanezis, 3pts Harry Layton and Adam Peruch was the players player. Next up was the Thirsty thirds who were in the match all the way but went down 13-18. Iva Motusaga got the try and Will Byrne kicked the conversion and 2 penalties. 1pts Nick Rendall, 2pts Luke McPhie, 3pts Wayne Lancaster with Iva Motusaga the players player. 2nds was another nail biter, the coaches stress levels were high as the boys fought back in the second half, not letting them score while wrapping up the match 24-17 with a late try to also gain a bonus point. Tries to Kyle Oakes (a fantastic long run through the middle of their defence), Patrick Wheatley, Joe Carroll & Chris Newton with Matt Kiddle converting two of the tries. 1pt to Matt Peebles & Tom Russell coming out of retirement, 2pts Benjamin Barrington, 3pts and players player to the big man Aidan King. First was a tough, tough game, lots of big impacts, solid defence all round and some really inspiring work from our players against a team bigger across the field. They opened the scoring with a try, then a fairly quick response with a Dylan Cadogan penalty kick had it 3-5 until another penalty from Dylan right on half time gave us the lead 5-6. In the second half our men kept putting together many phases of attack, keeping the ball secure and the pressure on them. A penalty kick took us further ahead, but they responded immediately with a try and they had the lead 9-10. More calm play featuring multiple ball carries by Pete Steele eventually opened their defence and Liam Donsworth was over for the try to make it 14-10. Again they responded quickly with another try and it was 14-15 with not too long to go. Once more it was solid rugby by the team, working the ball closer to their goal line until we won a penalty right on full time. In a similar finish a few weeks back it was Mitchell Jacob who kicked the winner. This time Dylan Cadogan was ice cool in the blustery conditions from wide of the posts and landed the kick to a huge roar from the big crowd filled with 'Old Boys' who assisted in the celebrations you have seen already posted on facebook. The entire team deservedly received a point from the coaches, 2pts to Pete Steele on his return to first grade, 3pts to Mitchell Jacob in what i thought was his best ever game for the Club. Daniel Reihana received the players player award. It was a well deserved victory, made sweeter as it was the day we honoured the late Peter Woods and his incredible contribution to our our Club, to Avoca Boardriders and to the wider community.
