The Sharks who are one of the most successful clubs on the Central Coast will field what is believed to be a strong side comprising several state level representative players. The team is to be coached by the Central Coast XVs Representative Coach Stew Jenkins who has a strong record of success locally guiding the Avoca Beach First XV to a history making number of premierships.
The club possess a strong culture and will use the tournament to ensure the team have a significant opportunity to press for further representative honours in front of the New South Wales and Australian Women’s Coaching Staff and High Performance Units. The Sharks are the home club of two UON Central Coast Sevens Ambassadors in Australian Men’s Sevens Player Jesse Parahi and former Australian Sevens Player, Wallaby and Western Force Captain Matt Hodgson.
Tournament Director Craig Morgan said “we are delighted to welcome Avoca Beach Rugby Club to the Kinesio Cup, The Sharks are a highly respected club and will no doubt field a strong side with the opportunity to have players push forward with their representative ambitions. The team will not be at the tournament just to make up numbers, no doubt they will be looking to take down a few sides with big reputations. By all accounts the squad is anticipated to feature several New South Wales representatives and potentially a former national player or two, so we look forward to seeing how the team comes together and its great to have a local club drive forward in women’s rugby, we congratulate the Avoca Club and Stew Jenkins for their initiative”.
The Kinesio Cup is regarded as one of the world’s leading women’s sevens tournaments featuring some of the strongest teams in the world strongly advocating for the development of women’s sevens and equality in sport.
A major announcement is pending on the Kinesio Cup Women’s tournament set to be unveiled at the tournaments official launch on Wednesday 15th June 2016.
